D.L. Hughley is on the “D List” of dance, according to “Dancing with the Stars” judges.

The comedian, who shocked fans by receiving one of the lowest scores ever on “DWTS” in Week 1, redeemed himself during Week 2. But it was a prom night theme for Week 3 and Monday night’s show was another struggle for D.L., as the good-natured funnyman got a score of just 16 for his salsa with partner Cheryl Burke. Only Wynonna Judd and Tony Dovolani scored lower, with a 15.
And D.L. was brutally attacked by judges Len Goodman and Bruno Tonioli, with Len saying it wasn’t a salsa at all and Bruno joking about how the comedian looked like he needed a hip replacement.
The harsh critiques made D.L. look in danger of being eliminated on Tuesday night’s results show.

After his dance Monday, D.L. told xfinityTV, “Here’s the thing — what’s fair is they get to say what they get to say. What’s not fair is — I’m used to being able to defend myself, because it’s easy to say stuff, but it’s their world and they can do whatever they want. It’s not personal to me because this is not something that’s my passion. It’s family hour and nobody wants to see somebody be a bad sport. But I don’t like being verbally assaulted without having the opportunity to retaliate. I don’t like that at all.”
D.L. said, “I’m only here because the fans voted. If it was up to the judges, it would have been over last week. So if it’s up to the judges this week, it’ll be over, too, so obviously it’s up to the fans. Whatever happens, I had a good time with Cheryl, and I’m telling you, I felt great about tonight.”
When told about Wynonna’s low score, D.L. laughed, “I can’t believe anybody scored lower than me! But I think it’s the same situation. If my fans want me to stay, I’ll stay. If they don’t, I’ll be off. To me, all I can do is try to be as good as possible, to have as much fun as possible. It’s not the first time a judge has my fate in his hands. Hopefully it will be the last, though.”
D.L. prefers to accentuate the positive. “I’ve lost like seven pounds” doing “DWTS,” he said. “That’s fun. [And] you know what’s cool? If I get kicked off before I learn how to waltz, then I’ll have to take my wife ballroom dancing.”
Find out who’s going home on Tuesday’s “DWTS” results show at 9/8c on ABC.
