The producers of “Glee” have cast two beloved sitcom stars to play a mature lesbian couple.
The two are Patty Duke, 66, and Meredith Baxter, 65 — the latter a lesbian who came out in 2009.
Duke is not a lesbian, although she and Baxter will play a committed lesbian couple who have been together for 25 years on the season finale of “Glee,” according to E! News.

E! broke the news Saturday morning, citing unnamed sources. The announcement from E! didn’t give any details on how the two would figure into any storylines.
But it did say they will recur next season after getting introduced to viewers in this year’s season finale later this spring.
Of course, whether they get a chance to recur next fall depends on whether “Glee” is returning for another season. And that’s not been announced yet.
Duke is the legendary star of “The Patty Duke Show” who won an Oscar at age 16 for “The Miracle Worker.” Baxter is best known for her role as one of TV’s most beloved moms on “Family Ties,” also starring Michael J. Fox.
