Jeanne Cooper, who plays Katherine Chancellor on “The Young & the Restless,” has been in the hospital since Friday night while she battles what has been described as an infection. Her son, “Psych” star Corbin Bernsen broke the news via Twitter, tweeting, “need some prayers for my mom tonight. Not doing great. I don’t believe it is the end of her journey, but still a very uphill battle.” An online outpouring of love for the 84 year old actress ensued, with Y&R actors and fans tweeting their support for the actress. CBS Daytime head Anjelica McDaniel wrote, “Our thoughts, prayers and love are with Jeanne Cooper and her family as she rests and recovers.” Gregg Rikaart (Kevin) tweeted, “Will everyone join me in sending love, strength and healthy vibes to Jeanne Cooper this morning?”

#JeanneCooper she is asleep and stable.” He later updated, “ #JeanneCooper‘s vitals r good and she’s beginning to wake up!” Kate Linder, who plays Katherine’s longtime housekeeper Esther confirmed that Cooper’s condition had improved, tweeting, “Spoke with Jeanne’s daughter. Her vital signs are good. She is doing much better. KEEP THOSE POSITIVE THTS COMING.”
In an eerie coincidence, on Friday’s episode of Y&R, Katherine, who had been suffering from memory lapses, learned that she had a brain tumor and needed surgery.
