I was deeply torn going into the “Dancing with the Stars” Week 7 elimination show. My head knew that Andy Dick should go home; after all, he was clearly the worst dancer remaining and his rumba Monday night looked like a guy on his first day of dance class. But my heart screamed no, no, no! He had been the most interesting competitor all season, both on camera and off, and I couldn’t bear to lose him. I was hoping for a miracle.
On Tuesday’s results show, after a pro dance and some recapping of this week’s Latin theme, Michael Buble performed his song “Come Dance with Me.”
Aly Raisman and Mark Ballas performed the encore dance of their salsa and I was shocked because the pro dancer has a bad back, as we learned Monday night. Why would producers put him through that?
In backstage footage from the performance show, Jacoby Jones was shown gasping in awe over Zendaya Coleman’s amazing dance skills. Jacoby’s stage mom got more screen time as she fussed in the audience over the judging of the football player’s salsa (memba, the one Carrie Ann Inaba compared to a fart?). Zendaya and Val Chmerkovskiy were declared safe, but Jacoby and partner Karina Smirnoff were called in jeopardy. “Oh, no. What are we going to do?” Karina fussed during a commercial break. “I went to church, prayed. We can’t go home.”

More behind-the-scenes stuff and Aly was telling Kym Johnson how stressed she was about Mark’s injury. But they wouldn’t need to stress on this night, as they were told they would dance again next week. Ingo Rademacher and Kym were in danger, however. “Two more weeks would be great,” Ingo was heard saying during a commercial break shown in the media room, as Kym crossed her fingers. This was weird, like they were doing a confessional.
According to a rehearsal clip, Jacoby accidentally threw his sneakers, hitting Kym in the face, and he felt so bad. But luckily, the dance pro’s noggin was just fine.
Then “DWTS” aired a special tribute to Boston ballroom dance instructor Adrianne Haslet-David, who lost part of her left leg in the terror attacks. “I remember thinking I was going to die. It was awful,” she recalled. Host Tom Bergeron said Adrianne will perform a dance on a future DWTS episode and they would track her progress on the show.
Watch the Tribute to the Boston Bombing Victim:
The Macy’s Stars of Dance show featured “So You Think You Can Dance” alumni Stephen “+Witch”boss and Allison Hollker in an explosive routine. Fun fact: the two are more than just dance co-workers—they got engaged in January.
Sean Lowe’s Monday footage showed that he was questioning Judge Bruno Tonioli’s description of his dance as looking like he was sitting on the toilet. Andy said to partner Sharna Burgess, “I don’t like seeing that 5,” about Carrie Ann’s low score of his dance. Then we learned Sean and Peta were safe. So, yes, my beloved Andy would face the hot elimination lights again.
It all came down to bottom 3 celebrities: Ingo, Andy, and Jacoby. Andy was already almost in tears during a commercial break. Oh, now the show was finally airing these clips that we had already seen in the press room!
Tom announced that the next star who was still going to compete was…Jacoby! Once again, the football player was sticking around.
So it was Andy vs. Ingo in the bottom two. The celebrity going home on the seventh week of competition was … Andy Dick!
Oh, rats! Andy’s kids were shown shaking in the audience but we thought they were kidding. Andy seemed very emotional; his voice cracked but he had time for a joke, saying he was going to kill Carrie Ann for the 5! Very funny. We would all miss Andy, especially me!
