Andy Dick, the most inspirational celebrity of Season 16’s “Dancing with the Stars,” bid an emotional goodbye to the ballroom on Tuesday night as he fought off the tears after being eliminated.

After the show, a downcast Andy told xfinityTV, “I’m a little bit numb. I’m a little sad.”

Andy, who was well known for his history of substance abuse problems and scrapes with the law, surprised “DWTS” fans in the beginning by delivering endearing routines with partner Sharna Burgess. But as the weeks went on, his dance skills faltered, leading to Tuesday’s ouster.

When asked what he’d miss most about “DWTS,” the funnyman said, “I’m going to miss the weekly feeling of accomplishment, like jumping over another mountain every week.”

Then the comedian got so choked up he had to stop talking and he was comforted by Sharna.

After receiving a dismal 17 out of 30 for his rumba with Sharna on Monday’s Latin dance night, the writing was on the wall for the former “Less Than Perfect” star. And in a crushing blow, judge Carrie Ann Inaba decided Andy only deserved a 5!

After regaining his composure, Andy said that was the kiss of death. “I think that 5 really hurt us. We never got a 5 before. I just think she was giving us a 5 in comparison to the other dancers, not in comparison to our past dances. I still love Carrie Ann but the 5 made everybody go, wait, what? Carrie Ann was the one who responded to us the most at first and then she was the harshest in the end.”

Sharna added, “The odds were really against us. Our scores were so low that we needed so many votes to counteract it.”

But Andy takes solace in the fact that “We made it really far. I keep that in mind. Seven weeks! That’s a long time for some idiot like me.”

Andy told xfinityTV he learned a lot from doing “DWTS”: “That I have a lot of obstacles in my brain that I can overcome, that I’m stronger than I think I am, that I’m more afraid than I know. I have this tough outer skin but really, I’m kind of a sensitive, scared guy.”

Doing “DWTS” has given Andy a great career shot in the arm and as xfinityTV previously reported, Andy has shot a TV pilot for ABC called “Divorce, A Love Story.” While he waits to see if the show gets picked up, he said, “I’m going to dive into family right now. My family needs me; I’ve been gone for seven or eight weeks now, dancing every single day with Sharna.”

Andy, who made Carrie Ann cry by performing a touching dance tribute to his daughter Meg, 15, earlier this season, said “it brought my daughter and I closer. We’ve had an up and down time. The dance I did for her was the biggest and best gift I’ll probably ever give to us. Every week was a ride to her. [She] loved getting dressed up, like it’s a ball in a ballroom.”

The comedian also completely bonded with Sharna and said they were like “a married couple. It’s going to be weird not to see her every day.”

And the dance pro commented on her time with Andy, “It has been amazing, a real roller coaster. It’s been emotional; it’s been intense; it’s been beautiful; it’s been frightening. And the last nine weeks getting to know Andy has been more than a dance competition. It’s been life changing. I made a new friend, [I’m] so inspired by him and what he’s accomplished. We bonded so much through dance and that’s such an incredible, special thing. I’m so beyond proud of Andy. He’s overcome so many personal struggles and for me to be a part of that is a greater honor than winning a mirror ball trophy.”

Andy vowed, “I’m coming back every week. I’ll be sitting in the front row. I can’t NOT be here. Now I can relax and actually watch them dance.”

Andy and Sharna will also come back to perform their exhibition dance on the “DWTS” finale. “Andy wants to do our first one, the foxtrot,” Sharna said. “I want to do it well,” Andy smiled.
