Despite a campaign to save “Happy Endings,” ABC has decided to cancel the comedy series as it prepares its schedule for the new fall season.
“Happy Endings,” along with Reba McEntire’s comedy “Malibu Country” and the Dana Delany series “Body of Proof,” were all given the ax by the network, according to The Hollywood Reporter. “Happy Endings,” however, draws the most attention given the swell of fans who tried to mobilize to save the show.
That said, Sony TV, which produces the series, has talked with multiple channels, including USA Network, about moving the show in case ABC pulled the plug.
Meanwhile, several of ABC’s veteran shows were informed of good news. The network ordered up additional seasons of dramas “Grey’s Anatomy,” “Scandal,” “Once Upon a Time,” “Castle,” and “Nashville.” Comedies coming back include “Modern Family,” “Suburgatory,” “The Middle,” and “The Neighbors.”
