Famed producer Joss Whedon is officially bringing ‘S.H.I.E.L.D.’ to the small screen.
ABC has picked up ‘Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.‘ for the fall season, spinning off the Marvel property (which was seen in the likes of the blockbuster feature film “The Avengers” and introduced in the comics back in the 1960s) into a new TV series, according to Deadline.
Clark Gregg, who played Agent Phil Coulson in Marvel’s feature films, resumes his role for the series, where he will assemble “a small, highly select group of Agents from the worldwide law-enforcement organization known as S.H.I.E.L.D. Together they investigate the new, the strange, and the unknown across the globe, protecting the ordinary from the extraordinary.”
Coulsons team, according to the report, will include Agent Grant Ward (Brett Dalton), an expert in combat and espionage, Agent Melinda May (Ming-Na Wen) who is a pilot and martial artist, Agent Leo Fitz (Iain De Caestecker); an engineer and Agent Jemma Simmons (Elizabeth Henstridge) who is a genius bio-chemist. The group will also include computer hacker Skye (Chloe Bennet).
In other ABC news, the network also picked up “Back in the Game,” a comedy starring James Caan, as well as “Mind Games” with Steve Zahn and Christian Slater, comedy series “The Goldbergs” and Rebel Wilson’s “Super Fun Night.”
