While the two finalists belted out live songs to determine a champion on “American Idol,” did “Idol” judge Mariah Carey take a shortcut?

Fans of the show were quick to hit Twitter after Carey sang a medley of her top hits during last night’s finale, with songs that included “Vision of Love”, “Make It Happen”, “My All” and “Hero.” The reason? A slew of people believed that Carey was lip-syncing during her spotlight moment. Fans made comments such as “worst lip syncer ever!” and that she was “making a fool of herself.”

However, her spokesperson was quick to deny that charges.

“She ABSOLUTELY DID NOT lip-sync,” her spokesperson told E! News. “She performed LIVE in front of several thousands of people!!!! (and did it 3 times!!).”

However, her rep did confirm that Mariah sang to a prerecorded track, which is fairly common, although she “performed with a 40-person choir.”

Here’s a clip of her performance so you can decide for yourself…
