Comedian and “Daily Show” co-creator Lizz Winstead is experiencing the fury of the Internet after posting a crass joke about the Oklahoma tornado that killed at least 24 people.

“This tornado is in Oklahoma so clearly it has been ordered to only target conservatives,” the comedian tweeted to her 75,000 followers.

The joke was meant to mock the IRS and its audits of conservative groups. Winstead then continued with two more tornado-themed jokes, posting “How long has Obama known about this Tornado?” and “Tornado just bumped me from MSNBC. #Benghazi”

However, reports of fatalities from the state prompted Winstead to not only pull her original Tweet, but offer an apology as well.

“Made a political joke, Twas before devastation revealed. In hindsight, had I understood, I would have refrained. Beyond sorry, #LetMeHaveIt,” she wrote.

She later added, “I was an idiot,” adding links links to help tornado victims.
