Julianne Moore called it “toe-mageddon” and even affixed the dreaded “-gate” suffix to the situation — as in Watergate or, in her case, “toe-gate.”
It was a scandal, apparently — one that you might not have heard about if obsessing about celebrities and their red-carpet wardrobes doesn’t happen to be your thing.

But for those who follow this stuff avidly, Julianne’s shoe malfunction at the Cannes Film Festival — in which her pinky toes appeared to hang uncomfortably over the sides of her ill-fitting Jimmy Choo shoes — has become the stuff of red-carpet legend, at least for 15 minutes.
It was Topic A for Julianne and Jimmy Fallon last week when she stopped by NBC’s “Late Night with Jimmy Fallon” to go over this toe situation step by step.
“There’s so much pressure to look good [on red carpets],” she told Fallon, “so you worry about your dress, you worry about your hair, you worry about your makeup. There’s so much pressure to look good, to look perfect, right? I thought I had everything under control. [But] it was a mess, it was toe-mageddeon!”
Watch the clip, above, to the very end to see the “gift” Julianne gave Jimmy. As you’ll see, Jimmy “toed” the line and played along.
