Tragedy struck the family of TLC’s Honey Boo Boo when a car struck and killed the family dog earlier this week.

The sad news about the family pet — a mixed-breed named China — was tweeted out by Honey Boo Boo herself, according to this story on the Eonline Web site.

“Some1 2day hit& killed our dog China& left her to die,” said the tweet attributed to the star of TLC’s “Here Comes Honey Boo Boo.”

The death of China apparently occurred as early as last Sunday, during the Memorial Day weekend. Two days earlier, another crisis hit the family as patriarch Mike Thompson — known as “Sugar Bear” — reportedly collapsed and was rushed to a Georgia hospital.

That crisis — about which little else is known — did not apparently subside until yesterday (Friday, May 31) when a tweet came out of Honey Boo Boo’s Twitter account that said Sugar Bear was now home and out of the hospital.
