At first glance, you might wonder if cherubic Ginnifer Goodwin is really the right actress to play Jacqueline Kennedy.
But then you have only to realize that Jackie was just 34 years-old when her husband was assassinated in Dallas on Nov. 22, 1963. Goodwin is 35, and she’s playing Jackie in “Killing Kennedy,” the TV-movie adaptation of the best-selling book by Bill O’Reilly.
Production on the movie, which is being produced for National Geographic Channel, got under way this past week in Richmond, Va.
To mark the start of production, NatGeo released two photos — one each of the stars playing the movie’s ill-fated couple: Goodwin as Jackie and Rob Lowe, 49, as President Kennedy, who was 46 at the time of his death.
Take a look at the photos — fresh from the set of the highly anticipated movie. Goodwin looks quite different from the way she looks in her regular job — as a cast member on “Once Upon a Time” on ABC.
Lowe, of course, stars in NBC’s “Parks and Recreation.” But the role he played in HBO’s Liberace movie, “Behind the Candelabra” — as a drug-addled (and drug-peddling) plastic surgeon — is Lowe’s most talked-about performance in years.
“Killing Kennedy” will tell the story of JFK’s assassination. It is scheduled to premiere next November, when the nation will be marking the 50th anniversary of the tragedy. Michelle Trachtenberg is playing Marina Oswald, wife of accused assassin Lee Harvey Oswald.
