Tony Goldwyn, who plays the handsome, adulterous president on ABC’s sizzling hit “Scandal,” stopped by “Jimmy Kimmel Live!” and revealed that he’s heard whispers that the OMG! scandals on “Scandal” aren’t that far from the truth.
The self-professed “political junkie” was thrilled to be invited to the White House Correspondent’s Dinner earlier this year, where he was surprised to discover that Washington’s elite is just as addicted to his TV show as everyone else.
“All they wanted to talk about was ‘Scandal,'” Goldwyn marveled of the real-life political fans of the show. “Every party I went to I got pinned in a corner by people who wage wars and stuff.”
“And you know what was funny,” he continued, “a number of people came up to me and said, ‘Don’t tell anyone I said this, but it’s not actually that different’,” Goldwyn said. “Really?” Kimmel asked. “That’s what I said: really?,” Goldwyn replied.
Goldwyn also said he draws inspiration for Fitz from President Obama and former President Clinton, but not for obvious reasons. Watch the Clip Above to Find Out the Not-So-Obvious Reasons.
And while he’s not sure if the president actually watches “Scandal,” Goldwyn says White House staffers have told him that Mrs. Obama “really loves the show” and that “everyone in the White House watches it… so let’s just say the president watches it,” Goldwyn laughed.
