Marie Osmond’s daytime talk show has been canceled by the Hallmark Channel after one season, the network announced Tuesday.
“Marie” will not be renewed for a second season, with Hallmark citing it’s in “a phase of true transformation” and plans to go in a different direction. The channel says it’s shifting its daytime programming focus “to offer quintessential lifestyle service shows that inform and entertain our viewers with how to, tips and ideas for living their best lives.”
In parting ways with Osmond, Hallmark had this to say about the longtime Showbiz entertainer:
“We are extremely grateful to Marie Osmond, whose immense talent and dedication to excellence is unmatched in entertainment,” the statement read. “Marie is a consummate professional and outstanding human being in every way possible. We have enjoyed working with her on the talk show and know her passion to create an offering of such high quality will find great success in syndication.”
The company that produces “Marie” is planning to launch Osmond’s talk show into syndication in fall 2014, with talks between the distributor and TV stations are already under way.
Episodes of “Marie” will air on Hallmark through September.
Osmond recently appeared as a guest co-host on CBS’s “The Talk,” where she announced on-air that she is going to be a first-time grandmother.
