TV is making history…drunk history that is.

What started as a Funny or Die skit has become a full-fledged television series with tonight’s premiere of “Drunk History” at 10/9c on Comedy Central.

Hosted by co-creator Derek Waters, “Drunk History” offers a tipsy take on history, complete with inebriated narrators and famous actors playing intoxicated versions of key figures from our storied past for a comedic, if completely irresponsible, version of events.

The series debuts with its first “history” lesson focusing on our nation’s capital in “Drunk History: Washington, D.C.,” which takes on Woodward and Bernstein blowing open the Watergate scandal; actors/brothers Edwin and John Wilkes Booth engaging in a tragic feud; and Elvis — as portrayed by Jack Black — crashing the White House to meet Nixon.

Other guest stars to be featured in the eight episodes of its first season include Kristen Wiig, Adam Scott, Jack McBrayer, Winona Ryder, Dave Grohl, Bob Odenkirk and Alfred Molina, who all portray real-life historical figures, from Richard Nixon to Arthur Conan Doyle to Patty Hearst.

“Drunk History” premieres Tuesday at 10/9c on Comedy Central.
