Former “ER” star Parminder Nagra is joining the cast of NBC’s new fall series “The Blacklist,” Deadline.com reported here.
Nagra, 37, will play “a smart and strong FBI agent who befriends Elizabeth Keen (Megan Boone) and takes on a mentor role,” Deadline said, describing a role that would evidently be in support of series co-star Boon.

The star of “The Blacklist” is James Spader, who plays an ex-FBI agent who turned to crime and became the Bureau’s most wanted fugitive. In the show, which premieres Monday, Sept. 23, at 10/9c, the Spader character turns himself in to the FBI and then offers to help them track and capture the other arch-criminals on their Most Wanted list.
Born in England, Nagra first gained fame as the star of the British teen soccer movie “Bend It Like Beckham” in 2002. She then joined the cast of “ER” in 2003 and stayed until 2009.
