Nick Stokes is officially missing from CBS staple “CSI: Crime Scene Investigation.”

A report from Deadline states that actor George Eads, who plays Stokes, is set to take a leave of absence from the series following a fight with one of the show’s writers. According to the article, he will appear in the first three episodes of “CSI’s” upcoming 14th season, before leaving for an undetermined length of time.

Apparently, Eads was unhappy with the creative direction of his character and got into a heated exchange with an eight-months-pregnant co-writer of a recent episode. After Carol Mendelsohn got wind of the argument, she met with Eads who threatened to quit.

According to the Hollywood Reporter, Eads’ absence will be addressed in the fourth episode when Catherine (Marg Helgenberger, who will reprise her role in the landmark 300th episode) chooses his character to receive special training at Quantico.

The new season of “CSI” will return on Sept. 25 on CBS.
