The new cast of Season 17 of “Dancing with the Stars” won’t be announced until next week, but cast names are starting to leak out, and the most interesting one? Valerie Harper. The 74-year-old “Rhoda” star is reportedly doing “DWTS”, according to TMZ, despite being diagnosed with terminal brain cancer.
Harper, who was told in March she had just months to live, is defying the odds and going dancing this season, where she is expected to be partnered with pro dancer Tristan MacManus (the site says the pair have already been practicing for two days).
TMZ also reports that Leah Remini, who recently made headlines for quitting Scientology, has signed up for this season too, along with new mom and “Jersey Shore” star Snooki (aka Nicole Polizzi).
According to various sources, they will be joined on the dance floor by Elizabeth Berkley (“Showgirls”), Amber Riley (“Glee”), singer Christina Milian, Jack Osbourne and NFL star Keyshawn Johnson, who are also rumored to be among the new “DWTS” cast.
We’ll find out for sure when the new cast is officially revealed live on Wednesday, Sept. 4 on “Good Morning America.”
The Season 17 premiere of “DWTS” airs Monday, Sept. 16 at 8/7c on ABC.
