And after the show, he told xfinityTV, despite having to leave, “I feel okay. I’ve come to realize I had an amazing time. It’s been a great experience and I think about the millions of people out there that would really love to have this experience in learning how to dance and what ballroom dancing is all about.”
With his partner Sharna Burgess by his side, Keyshawn said of dance, “When you first get into it, you think, lalala but it’s not that. It’s an art form with a lot of consistency to it and Sharna really had to teach me that in a short period of time. For the most part, I came along well. Any time you can improve from a week ago? What more do you want?!”
Keyshawn received a 17 out of 30 for his cha cha on week one. On Monday night, judges gave him only one point higher, an 18, for his performance of the samba. During the dance, however, the NFL star bobbled Sharna during one of the moves.

But he said, “I learned I can do things outside the box and this is totally outside the box for me. I look at guys like Derek [Hough] and what they’re able to do and how fast they’re able to move and I’m like, ‘I don’t think I can do that.’ But her giving me the comfort and making me feel good about it, it’s like, if I had to stand in line again to sign up for [“DWTS”], I’d be the first one in line.”
Sharna commented on their ouster, “I think he did amazing for someone who truly came into this competition not knowing a single step of dance or how to move to music. I think he accomplished something really great this week and finding confidence in doing that—being able to go out on the floor and give it everything when it’s foreign to you.
“I couldn’t be more proud of him. I wish we had more time together to do it,” she said.
“Dancing with the Stars” airs Mondays at 8/7c on ABC.
