“Pretty Little Liars” actor Brant Daugherty wasn’t lying when he told his partner Peta Murgatroyd on “Dancing with the Stars” that he had been robbed of his dance shoes.
The story was 100 percent true, Daugherty told reporters after Monday night’s show.

“That was not a lie,” he said. “I was really robbed at gunpoint. I was walking up to my apartment building last Monday after the show and a man came up behind me and told me to give him my bag and I turned around and he had a gun. It was pretty terrifying.
“He took my dance shoes in a backpack with a pair of pants and two t-shirts.
“I gave a whole report to the police. It was really more shocking than anything else.
“I’m very happy I’m okay,” a relieved Daugherty said. “It was probably one of the worst nights of my life.”
Murgatroyd was shocked when she heard about the scary incident.
“Oh my gosh, he texted me the next morning and I thought he was joking,” she said. “I was like, ‘What!?!’ But it was completely real. Three terrible things happened to him: His phone got stolen, he got robbed at gunpoint and then his foot was injured.”
However, Daugherty’s luck changed this Monday when he and Murgatroyd got the highest score for the week — a 27 for their quickstep.
“Honestly with the week that I had it’s been pretty stressful and we were just hoping to be above mediocre,” he said. “To come out and put on such a good show it really made me so happy.”
“Dancing with the Stars” airs Mondays at 8/7c on ABC.
