Kerry Washington will host “Saturday Night Live” for her very first time Nov. 2, NBC announced Wednesday.

The star of ABC’s “Scandal” will be joined by musical guest Eminem, who will be making his sixth appearance on “SNL.”

Washington’s guest-hosting stint will give her an opportunity to lighten up and reveal a more comedic side of herself that’s almost never in evidence on her ABC series, in which her character, Olivia Pope, is always seen in the midst of various crises.

Among the crises playing out in the current season of “Scandal”: The public revelation that Olivia is having an affair with the President of the United States. With that in mind, we feel confident in hazarding a guess that at least one sketch on “SNL” will have Washington, as Olivia, “interacting” with “President Obama” — as played by Jay Pharoah.

Meanwhile, NBC also announced that actor Ed Norton will host “SNL” on Oct. 26, the Saturday before Washington. The musical guest on that night will be Janelle Monáe. Norton will also be hosting “SNL” for the first time. There is no new edition of “SNL” scheduled for this coming Saturday (Oct. 19).
