American Music Awards Shows Latinos Love

The American Music Awards are celebrating an anniversary and you’re invited! During their November 24th taping at the Nokia Theater in Los Angeles, California, the AMA’s will mark the 15th year of honoring– Favorite Latin Artist. The first year the category was added, Spanish crooner Julio Iglesias took home the accolade followed by his son Enrique Iglesias the next year. Colombian hip shaker Shakira became the first female entertainer to win the title and was subsequently honored in 2005, 2006, 2010, and 2012. Jennifer Lopez beat Enrique and Pitbull in 2011 in the same category.

Salsero Marc Anthony and bachateros Prince Royce and Romeo Santos are competing for the coveted title in 2013. Additionally, Bruno Mars is up for Artist of the Year, Favorite Male Artist, Pop/Rock, Favorite Artist, Adult Contemporary and Miguel was nominated Favorite Male Artist, Soul/R&B.
