Recently, Sarah Hoidahl, who works as a waitress at Ruby Tuesday in Concord, New Hampshire, displayed her generosity when she picked up the tab for a meal for two furloughed officers during the government shutdown. When word spread of her good deed, she was then rewarded by Ellen DeGeneres with $10,000 for her actions.
Now the host of “The Ellen DeGeneres Show” is taking it a step further.
DeGeneres surprised Hoidahl at her work with a call to check up on the waitress.
“Hey Sarah, it’s Ellen,” DeGeneres said. “I’m just checking in. What ya doing?”
“Hi! Oh my god, is it really you?” Hoidahl said, adding that “It’s been crazy but it’s been so much fun. Oh my god, I can’t believe I’m talking to you.”
DeGeneres went on with a question. “We gave you a $10,000 tip and I heard a lot of that is going to go towards, or some of it is going to go towards a car that you and your mom share, right?”
She then shocked a crying Hoidahl with the keys to a brand new 2014 Hyundai Santa Fe Sport.
