Former “Showgirls” star Elizabeth Berkley suffered one of the most shocking eliminations in “Dancing with the Stars” history on Monday night.
Comedian Bill Engvall was voted through to next week instead, leaving fellow bottom two dweller Elizabeth sobbing to reporters after the show.
When asked how she felt, a teary-eyed Elizabeth said, “Sad. I’m not going to lie.
“The truth is, on this show, you just never know. Everyone is talented.”
The former “Saved by the Bell” star tried to comfort herself by remembering the expression, “Don’t be sad that it’s over. Smile because it happened. I’m going to just live with that.”
Still, with devoted pro partner Val Chmerkovskiy by her side, Elizabeth admitted when she got the bad news on live TV, “I felt a little sucker punch because I was excited about next week. I just feel like [we were] cut short a little bit. Not that I felt entitled by any means but I felt excited and grateful.”
On Monday night, Elizabeth scored a 26 out of 30 for her Viennese Waltz with Val. Later, she received a perfect score of 30 for her second dance, a trio salsa with Val and Gleb Savchenko that thrilled the judges.

The actress said she has “lots” going on with future projects. “I’ll share with you when it’s all official and signed. I never talk about things ’til they’re real.’ I’m not a talker but a doer, but you’ll see some fun things,” she said.
She said of Val, “This guy has inspired me in many ways to pursue those things.”
Elizabeth said one of the best things about doing “DWTS” was her friendship with Val “and the gift of” — the star broke down in tears before continuing — “Sorry. The love affair I have with dance has returned. This isn’t sad. It’s just a very deep thing that he helped me reconnect to which I’m forever grateful [for]. It’s like a full circle love affair.”
The actress’s co-star, Corbin Bleu, who like, Elizabeth, has dance experience, was stunned by her ouster and offered her hugs and condolences on the red carpet.
The ex-“High School Musical” hunk, who dances with Karina Smirnoff, told xfinityTV, “I’m shocked right now. I’m kind of distraught. It is so much about the votes [but]… it hurts so much with Elizabeth.”
Longtime “DWTS” pro Cheryl Burke, who has guided partner Jack Osbourne to the semifinals, said Season 17 is unique because “you haven’t seen four shockers in a row” before. “I think Elizabeth has been the biggest shocker.
“She was the second highest score of the night [but] clearly, she didn’t get enough votes,” Cheryl noted.
“Dancing with the Stars” airs Mondays at 8/7c on ABC.
