Hello, darlings! I know I’ve been MIA for the past week. I had a death in the family and was assisting with the funeral arrangements and comforting family members and friends. My spreading of unconditional love didn’t deter me from observing the latest happenings or our favorite TV shows. Robin Roberts may be hosting “The Year,” highlighting the top events of 2013 on Thursday, but I have listed three TV-related items–with video proof–that took place during my brief hiatus that has people talking. Enjoy!

“The Real Housewives of Atlanta”star Porsha Stewart Williams not believing that Underground Railroad was an actual railroad that transported black American slaves to freedom. Yes, this 32-year-old granddaughter of civil rights icon Hosea Williams–a close friend of Martin Luther King Jr. who reportedly often referenced the Underground Railroad–didn’t know this?!? Just as a grown, post-black history month in existence black American, you should know better!**Deep sigh** You know, whether she’s really this unaware or if it’s an act, it’s still very unfortunate. Very. Unfortunate. Don’t believe me? Witness it here for yourself. (There are reports circulating that Porsha was fired from the show but I’m unable to confirm their accuracy at this time. Stay tuned.)

“Saturday Night Live is working overtime to add a black female cast member by January, according to reports. There were “secret” auditions held and plenty of guesses as to which funny sistas are under consideration. After much talk, it’s agreed that having a diverse cast and writers would be beneficial for the sketch comedy show. But we all know whoever they select will be viewed under a microscope and possibly labeled as a token. Yes, she may catch hell. I guess the show has to start somewhere (again). Read more here and watch guest host Kerry Washington’s “SNL” cold open here.

“Scandal”: If you thought Mama Pope gnawing at her arm proved she was a tough chick then the latest episode–the winter finale–really displays her gangsta side. And she does it all seemingly with little awareness that “Livie” thinks she’s “the monster.” Plus, Daddy Pope was demoted! Yeah, the Popes are ideal candidates for “Iyanla: Fix My Life.” Watch it below.

Here’s what else is happening…
More evidence that the “Scandal” effect is alive and well… “Best Man Holiday’s” Nia Long will star in WeTV’s first scripted series, “The Divide.” She will play Billie Page, “who’s described as the hard-charging wife of district attorney Adam Page, which will be played by actor Damon Gupton (“Prime Suspect,” “Deadline”),” according to The Wrap. The legal drama reportedly is executive produced by Richard LaGravenese and “Scandal” star Tony Goldwyn. I see you, Tony, you’re experiencing “Scandal’s” success firsthand and see an opportunity to recreate such fame. Not mad at you. This isn’t Nia’s first go at TV. Remember she was a love interest of Don Cheadle’s Marty Kaan in Showtime’s “House of Lies?” In case you forgot, watch the episodes here. Speaking of capitalizing off of “Scandal,” ABC has announced it’s releasing limited edition prints from the hit series that’s available for purchase. Just in time for the holidays! It seems that there are only 1,000 available. You can go to XFINITY’s black entertainment site here and see an example of a group shot and if you want to buy any, check here for more details. And if those photos aren’t enough to satisfy your “Scandal” craving until the show returns on February 27, 2014 (wasn’t that winter finale something!), you can catch up on past episodes here. Word on the street is that singers Chrisette Michele and Leela James will join the cast of “R&B Divas: LA.” Now, Leela, who many feel is unappreciated as an artist, makes sense but Chrisette, yeah, that addition has many scratching their heads. This reality franchise serves as a platform for artists  who’re no longer in the forefront to get a little shine. Chrisette is still relatively popular and joining this show seems premature. I guess we’ll have to tune in and see.

On my watchlist? What I’m tuning in to see and what I’ll catch up with XFINITY On Demand tonight…
“The Voice”: I’ve been keeping up and tonight’s the second-half of the two-part finale. Who do you think will win? It airs at 8 p.m. EST on NBC. [Watch here]
“Getting On”: You’ve read my thoughts on this show and know why I’m catching up on this show via Xfinity On Demand. It airs at 10 p.m. EST on HBO. [Watch here]

The Hot List: Who/What’s Hot, Not
HOT: Beyoncé hitting up Karyn’s Cooked restaurant in Chicago while in town for The Mrs. Carter Show world tour. (Love all of Karyn Calabrese’s restaurants–very yummy!).
NOT: “Real Housewives of Atlanta” star Kandi Burruss’ mother–affectionately known as Momma Joyce–behaving very inappropriately regarding her daughter’s fiancé, Todd, and her best friend, Carmon, on a few of the show’s episodes. (OK, I’m putting it mildly. Mama Joyce straight shows her ass and it’s pretty off-putting. Her antics even made her a trending news story for mainstream outlets. What happened to the sweet lady I met three years ago?)

HOT: Florida State University quarterback Jameis Winston, 19, winning the 2013 Heisman Trophy in a landslide. (This young chap is the youngest person to take home the award. Congrats!).
NOT:  Speaking of “RHOA” stars showing their asses, what’s up with Porsha Williams not knowing that the Underground Railroad wasn’t an actual railroad? (Chile ….)
