The 86th Academy Awards definitely was one for the history books!  Yes, it was a night filled with diversity–Lupita Nyong’o’s win, Mexican American Alfonso Cuaron winning best director for ‘Gravity,’ Jared Leto winning for playing a transgendered person, Ellen DeGeneres hosting–but there were other moments that had millions of people smiling. I’ve selected my favorite moments from Sunday’s telecast–in no particular order, though Lupita’s win is clearly the moment–that had me grinning, and in some cases, dancing. Check it out below. Lupita Nyong’o’s win. A lot of people were pulling for the 31-year-old to win but were unsure if it’d actually happen. It did. While this was exciting for most, it was her eloquent Oscar acceptance speech that won people over. While thanking the rest of the “12 Years a Slave” team” and the Academy for this “incredible recognition,” the tearjerker moment came when she said: “When I look down at this golden statue, may it remind me and every little child that no matter where you’re from your dreams are valid.” See why they love this lady?

The selfie seen around the world. I thought the idea of this was fun and apparently so did 2.5 million other people (by Monday morning). Lupita Nyong’o, Brad Pitt, Meryl Streep, Angelina  Jolie, Kevin Spacey and a few others joined host Ellen DeGeneres in causing Twitter to crash Sunday night with the most retweeted photo. But what made the occasion stellar? Lupita’s brother, Peter Nyong’o Jr., jumping in the photo. Can you blame him? He had a better position than she did in the photo. His high top fade partially blocked Angelina’s face. Before this night, we only knew him from the Instagram video he posted on celebrating his big sis’s success and Oscar nod. A bit of a ham? Maybe. But we love it!

Darlene Love’s soulful acceptance speech. I love, love, love backup singers. They complement the lead vocalist and make songs even more special. So you know I was pleased when “20 Feet from Stardom” won the Oscar for best documentary. I was even happier when one of its main stars, the legendary singer and actress Darlene Love, represented the other ladies from the doc and belted out a verse from “His Eye Is on the Sparrow.” Yes, she definitely helped make this Oscar ceremony a night to remember. Haven’t seen “20 Feet from Stardom”? We have it. Be sure to check it out here, with Xfinity On Demand™.

Happy about Pharrell Williams’ “Happy” performance. I love Bette Midler and “Somewhere Over the Rainbow” is a great song but the joy this performance elicited, along with Lupita Nyong’o, Meryl Streep and Amy Adams dancing, definitely made it the night’s best musical performance. William’s “infectiously joyous song” from “Despicable Me 2,” as Kerry Williams introduced the performance, surely had millions on their feet. It surely had me up and moving.

The joy the “12 Years a Slave” cast exuded over its Best Picture win. Whether you’re a fan of this film or not, you can’t deny the overwhelming joy all involved displayed when it took home this award. I mean, director and producer Steve McQueen jumped for joy like a kid getting his favorite Christmas toy. The rest of the cast also glowed with excitement. Good for them!

On my watchlist? What I’m tuning in to see and what I’ll catch up with XFINITY On Demand…
“The Walking Dead”: You know why I missed this but will catch up and see what’s happening with Rick and Co. It airs Sundays at 9 p.m. EST on AMC. Watch it here.

“Blood, Sweat & Heels”: Yep, another one I missed last night. Let’s see if Mica Hughes can work it out with her ex-BFF Brie Bythewood. It airs Sundays at 10 p.m. EST  on Bravo. Watch it here.

The Hot List: Who/What’s Hot, Not
HOT: The 86th Academy Awards telecast! (Best. Awards. Show.)
NOT: How some “media” outlets blew up Chaka Khan’s red carpet comment when someone referenced her looking like Beyonce. (I saw the video and partially overheard the interview. Didn’t seem like shade to me …)

HOT: Naomi Campbell on ABC’s “The View.” (Sis was rocking an Afro wig. Glad my mom called me to watch.)
NOT: Whatever is or isn’t going on between Steve McQueen and John Ridley. (Oh, lawd …)
