The biggest night of the year for Broadway is this Sunday when the 68th Annual Tony Awards are presented at Radio City Music Hall. This year also marks the return of Hugh Jackman to hosting duties and with big shows like “A Gentleman’s Guide to Love and Murder” and the revival of “Hedwig and the Angry Inch” (starring past Tony host – and current nominee – Neil Patrick Harris) leading the pack of nominations, it’s sure to be a big night. The Tony Awards are presented by The Broadway League and the American Theatre Wing.
The night will feature appearances by Orlando Bloom, Judith Light, Samuel L. Jackson, Matt Bomer, Zachary Quinto, Patrick Wilson, Jonathan Groff, Rosie O’Donnell, T.I., LL Cool J and Barrett Foa. Tina Fey will introduce a very special performance by Jennifer Hudson who will perform a number from the new musical, “Finding Neverland.”
Other performances during the show will include NPH and the cast of “Hedwig,” nominee Sutton Foster and the cast of “Violet,” Alan Cumming reprising his role from “Cabaret” as well as Idina Menzel performing from the new show, “If/Then.” More than likely Menzel will also be there when the cast of “Wicked” takes the stage again to celebrate the iconic show’s 10th anniversary. Music legends Patti LaBelle, Gladys Knight and Fantasia will take the stage for an unforgettable performance with the cast of “After Midnight” and Sting will perform a song from his upcoming musical, “The Last Ship.”
