The Indian film industry’s top award show sailed into Tampa on April 26, 2014 with a pirate-themed opening musical number and celebrities ranging from “Slumdog Millionaire” star Anil Kapoor to John Travolta and Kevin Spacey.

The show that is commonly compared to the Oscars was held in the United States for the first time and will be broadcast on June 15th on Starplus and is estimated to reach 800 million people worldwide.

Travolta, famous for his dance-floor pyrotechnics, put his moves on show for a wildly applauding crowd when actress Priyanka Chopra pulled him onstage to make his signature moves from the 1994 hit “Pulp Fiction.”

Later in the show, Roshan, who is considered Bollywood’s best dancer, joined him, in a rendition of his Staying Alive dance routine. Roshan then presented Travolta with an award for Outstanding Achievement in International Cinema, declaring the two-time Golden Globe winner “the coolest of them all.” “I’m honored. I’m humbled,” Travolta said.

In an earlier press conference, Travolta shared his love for Bollywood films, including “3 idiots,” “Lagaan,” “Krrish 3” and “Ram Leela.” When asked if he would ever consider being part of a Bollywood film, he quickly consulted some notes before replying, “I have been approached for a Bollywood film which will be directed by Shekhar Kapur called “Paani.” I’m considering being a part of it. It sounds like an honest Bollywood film. I cannot deny music and dance in my life, It is part of my soul. This is part of most of Bollywood’s films, and I agree with it.”

He went on to say “I have known Shekhar for a while now. Even though the script does not have songs, Shekhar said he will put a song to make it truly Bollywood. I am open to working in Hindi films if I like the story and my part.”

Considering John may be all set to make his Bollywood debut, it seems he’s been keeping a check on Bollywood and was quite well-versed with what several actors are up to. He made no secret of his admiration for Aamir Khan but it seems it’s two lovely leading ladies that have really caught his attention. “I loved Priyanka Chopra’s Exotic. I also recently watched the Romeo and Juliet version and I loved the girl (Deepika Padukone) in that.”
