Hey Happy People! See why it’s a terrific Tuesday: Sherri Shepherd will help Keke Palmer make Broadway history next month and Oprah Winfrey’s turning heads with her latest magazine cover. Plus, there’s my weekly watchlist and what’s hot (Malia Obama being Malia Obama) and not (Joan Rivers’ talking about babies). Enjoy!
Keke Palmer’s big moves
Keke Palmer’s making history again.
In June, the 20-year-old former child star became the youngest talk show host when “Just Keke” debuted on BET. Now, she’ll be the first black Cinderella on Broadway. Keke will step into the title role in “Rodgers & Hammerstein’s Cinderella” starting Sept. 9 at the Broadway Theatre, the Associated Press reports. Congrats, Keke!
Many of us remember a 9-year-old Keke stealing scenes as Queen Latifah’s niece in “Barbershop 2: Back in Business.” She later starred alongside Angela Bassett in “Akeelah and the Bee,” and had her own Nickelodeon series, “True Jackson, VP.”Keke appears to be very grounded and is making a smooth transition from child star to sought-after starlet, something a lot of former child stars have struggled to do. How does she do it? By learning a lot from established co-stars like Latifah and Angela.
“That’s honestly how I learned everything. Just watching them and watching how they were. And luckily I was able to work with humble, great people,” Keke tells “The Talk” co-hosts during her visit Monday.
It’s clearly paying off. Last year she starred in the record-setting Vh1 biopic “CrazySexyCool: The TLC Story” and is starring as Coral, a young nanny for the Masters on Showtime’s “Masters of Sex” current season.
Keke, girl, you rep the Chi well. Again, congratulations on all of your endeavors!
“Masters of Sex” airs Sundays at 10 p.m. ET and “Just Keke” airs weekdays at 5 p.m. ET. Watch her drop words of wisdom on “The Talk” below and watch a video sharing her “Cinderella” news.

Sherri Shepherd’s making moves, too
Well, it seems that Keke won’t be the only Windy City gal keeping The Great White Way lively this fall.
News just broke that outgoing “The View” co-host Sherri Shepherd will star alongside fellow Chicagoland native Keke Palmer in “Rodgers & Hammerstein’s Cinderella.”(Now, if it’s announced that that Malia Obama’s interning on this production, I’m too through!). Sherri will play Cinderella’s evil stepmother, Madame, according to The Hollywood Reporter. OK, now!
This won’t be the first time the two ladies will work together or play relatives. Keke starred as Carlina White in the Lifetime biopic “Abducted: The Carlina White Story” and Sherri played her birth mother.
This is good for Sherri, who has been dealing with drama from men to whom she said “I do.” It’s also great because she taped her last episode of “The View” last week. That final episode will air Friday at 11 a.m. ET on ABC. She had been on the show for seven seasons.
Check out this video about her last “The View” taping below.

Oprah looks puurrrfect in catsuit
Yep, that’s the first thing that came out of my mouth when I saw her rocking a black catsuit on O, The Oprah Magazine’s September cover. Sis looks pretty good. Sixty, who?? I love it! Love it, love it!
But don’t just take my word for it, see it for yourself below.
