I know you’re enjoying the warm summer weather but aren’t you looking forward to TV’s new fall shows?
The weekend’s here and this is what’s making the rounds: Kerry Washington hit up “Jimmy Kimmel Live,” chatting about her baby girl, “friendly” status with the Obamas and singing in high school; Joe Morton talks about his Emmy nod for “Scandal;” and NeNe Leakes wants to join “The View.”
I enjoy watching this show but question the one-dimensional portrayal of its black characters.
If there’s a girl who’s on fire, it’s definitely Issa Rae. The filmmaker won our hearts when she debuted her hilarious award-winning web series “The Misadventures of Awkward Black Girl” three years ago.
I’ve got some inspiring as well as sad news to share: Kerry Washington gets very candid about “Scandal” and the show’s creator, Shonda Rhimes, offers some straight forward advice of her own. And Hollywood legend Ruby Dee passed away today. There’s also my watchlist and what’s hot (Oprah hanging out with the cast of “A Different World”) and not (these school shootings). Enjoy!
Here’s what’s cooking today: Katt Williams, officially out of retirement, will tape an HBO comedy special and Shonda Rhimes sets the record straight about recasting Harrison Wright on “Scandal.” Plus, there’s my watchlist and what’s hot (Michelle Obama’s latest tweet) and not (Jet magazine folding print edition). Enjoy!
It’s the weekend and I have lots to share: My thoughts on the “Scandal” season 3 finale, “Scandal” creator Shonda Rhimes visits “Jimmy Kimmel Live” and my watchlist (“Orphan Black” returns!) plus what’s hot (Idris Elba and girlfriend welcome a new son) and not (Columbus Short’s recent radio interview). Enjoy!
Out.com reports that Dustin Lance Black, the Academy Award-winning screenwriter of “Milk” who was invited, then uninvited, to be commencement speaker at his Alma Mater, Pasadena City College, due to the sex… More
Are you looking to relax after a long day of work? One of my favorite movies, “Love Actually,” will be airing on Showtime at 8pm.
