10. "The View": Elisabeth Hasslebeck Versus Bill Maher

Uncomfortable political arguments have become "The View's" trademark, with conservative Elizabeth Hasslebeck sparring with her liberal co-hosts. On November 15th, Hasselbeck directed her self-righteous indignation at guest Bill Maher, who had made a joke on his HBO talk show about trading her to Egypt in exchange for CBS international correspondent Lara Olsen a whopping nine months ago. She hijacked Maher's segment, demanded an apology because the joke was not funny and that in the U.S. "we do not trade women." Maher pointed out that, as a polarizing public figure, Hasselback needed to accept that occasionally comedians would make her the punchlines of jokes. The other women, annoyed at being sidelined, joined Team Bill. (Photo: ABC)
