The Daily Beast: The 2011 Golden Globe Nominations

1 of 11

Golden Globe Nominees

At the Golden Globes, "The King’s Speech," "Black Swan," and "The Social Network" are duking it out, Johnny Depp’s facing himself, and yes, "Glee" is still huge. View photos of the nominees.

The Golden Globe nominations, announced early Tuesday morning by actors Josh Duhamel, Katie Holmes, and Blair Underwood, brought very few surprises. "The King’s Speech," starring Colin Firth as the stuttering future king of England, led with seven nominations, followed by "The Fighter" and "The Social Network," with six each. The biggest surprise was the recognition bestowed upon recent flop "The Tourist," which grabbed noms for Johnny Depp and Angelina Jolie (perhaps in a pandering move to the A-listers, who will look great on the red carpet). On the TV side, last year’s big winner, Fox’s "Glee," led with five nominations. The Cecil B. DeMille Award will go to Robert DeNiro during the 68th annual ceremony on NBC on Sunday, Jan. 16. Comedian Ricky Gervais is back as host. Let the guessing games begin.
