Robert played Sam "Ace" Rothstein, a mob-affiliated sports handicapper who is sent to Las Vegas to run a casino on behalf of a prominent mafia family. Sharon Stone, who played Rothstein's wife in the film, earned a Best Actress Oscar nomination for her performance.
