Hollywood's Emancipated Stars

2 of 18

Edward Furlong

Edward Furlong's emancipation story started with a quick rise to fame. He was spotted by a casting director in L.A. at the tender age of 13, and made his acting debut soon after as a young John Conner in "Terminator 2: Judgement Day." During filming, his guardianship shifted from his mom to his aunt and uncle, and then back again to his mother. During the guardianship battle, Furlong's lawyer gained control of his finances after Edward's family was accused of misappropriating the teen's earnings. Furlong eventually filed for emancipation and was granted it at 16. —XFINITY Entertainment Staff (Photo by Kevin Winter/Getty Images)
