This 1983 hit, about a working-class man who longs for a wealthy "uptown girl," was inspired by a trio of famous ladies, according to Joel. In a 2010 interview with Howard Stern, Joel said the song was initially inspired by a memorable encounter with Christie Brinkley, Whitney Houston and Elle Macpherson. However, the song was ultimately written about Macpherson, his girlfriend at the time, and Brinkley, who would later become his wife. —XFINITY Entertainment Staff (Photo by Noam Galai/Getty Images)
