The identity of the vain subject in Carly Simon's 1972 hit is one of the best-kept secrets in music, despite the fact that Simon has given several (seemingly conflicting) clues over the past few decades. Among the rumored inspirations are Mick Jagger, Warren Beatty, David Cassidy, James Taylor, David Bowie, Cat Stevens, Dan Armstrong, David Geffen and... absolutely no one in particular. The singer did finally reveal this past year that the second verse is in fact about Warren Beatty. However, she has still left us wondering, claiming that the other verses refer to two different men. —XFINITY Entertainment Staff (Photo by Kevin Winter/Getty Images)
