10 Cities Most A...Depending on how long the U.S. government shutdown lasts, local economies with a heavy concentration of federal workers will be the first to feel the effects, as those staffers face furloughs. Trulia chief economist Jed Kolko broke down the 10 cities that could be most affected, based on the percentage of total local wages that go to federal employees in the each of the 100 largest metro areas. "Not all of them will be equally affected by a shutdown, of course, but it's a reasonable proxy," he adds.
