The receiver's game-winning catch in Super Bowl XLII helped the Giants beat the 18-0 New England Patriots in 2008, but it was what happened less than a year later that gained him the most notoriety. In the midst of one of his worst seasons, Burress accidentally shot himself in the leg with a pistol he had brought inside a New York City nightclub in November 2008. While the injury was not life-threatening, Burress spent the rest of the season serving a four-game suspension before being released by the Giants in April 2009. He was then sentenced in September 2009 to two years in prison after accepting a plea bargain. (AP Photo/David J.
