Kansas City Chiefs

Starter/backup: Alex Smith/Ricky Stanzi

2012 summary: Matt Cassel and Brady Quinn were the two starters for the NFL’s worst team in 2012. Neither is expected back under new head coach Andy Reid.

Outlook: As first reported by FOX Sports NFL insider Jay Glazer, Kansas City has agreed to acquire Smith from San Francisco for a 2013 second-round pick and other compensation. The Chiefs are still expected to drat a quarterback who would ideally be groomed as Smith’s ultimate replacement. Stanzi hasn’t played in his first two NFL seasons with the Chiefs, so there is a backup need in free agency. —Alex Marvez (AP Photos)
