Matt Schaub/T.J. Yates 2012 summary:
Schaub led Houston to its best record in franchise history and also won the first playoff game of his eight-year NFL career. Schaub, though, struggled down the stretch as the Texans were eliminated in the second round for a second consecutive season. Outlook:
The Texans remain committed to Schaub in 2013 despite his late-season struggles. Schaub, though, probably has only one more season to lead the Texans into at least a conference championship game. Head coach Gary Kubiak left open the possibility Houston will take a quarterback in the draft, but it likely wouldn’t be more than a mid- to late-round pick. Kubiak expects former University of Houston standout Case Keenum and ex-Dallas Cowboys reserve Stephen McGee to compete with Yates for the backup spot. —Alex Marvez
